Plummy black fruits, cherries and blueberries, all layered with black olive tapenade and a whisper of smoke. Exactly everything you want from a celebrated Northern Rhone appellation, created by an exceptional producer. Medium-bodied with fine tannins, that helps it pair beautifully with bold French cooking. Excellent now, but has enough body and structure to age for a few more years.

Method Magic Aleofane means “gem of truth”, a statement of intent by winemaker Natacha Chave. Coming from one of the Rhone’s most famous families, Natacha has deep oenological roots, but bravely struck out on her own in the early 2000s. She farms her vineyards biodynamically and harvests by hand. The Crozes-Hermitage vines are around 50 years old, grown on clay and galettes. Grapes are partially destemmed before fermentation, before maturation in 600L demi-muids for 12 months. Natacha combines modern minimum-interventionist approaches with a desire to create exceptional, classic expressions of the region she knows so well. A real, well, “gem” of a find, truthfully.
