Generous and deeply flavoured, with ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum alongside violet, cracked black pepper and a distinctive smoky, savoury character. The palate is rich and concentrated, with velvety tannins giving shape to the dark fruit while fresh acidity keeps everything beautifully balanced. Powerful without being heavy, with the structure and complexity that make Cornas such a compelling expression of Syrah.
The Syrah comes from a single high-altitude parcel in Cornas, planted at around 380 metres from massal-selection vines. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically and the grapes are harvested by hand. After partial destemming, fermentation takes place over around three weeks before the wine is matured in demi-muids. Natacha Chave’s low-intervention approach, including indigenous yeasts, allows the fruit and character of the Cornas terroir to remain at the centre of the wine.
