Method Magic Hailing from a railway arch in Battersea, Blackbook Winery is the brainchild of winemaker Sergio Verrillo and his partner Lynsey, crafting small batch English wines with a rebellious, hands on approach. Their experimental Fragments of Time Sauvignac (2022) comes from Essex grapes, fermented on wild yeasts and aged seven months in old Burgundy barrels with regular lees stirring, creating a textured, expressive white. With only around 80 cases made, every bottle is a rare taste of Sergio’s global winemaking experience and fearless cool climate creativity, showing just how exciting English wine can be.

About Blackbook Winery

Battersea, London England Founded 2017

Blackbook Winery is an urban winery based beneath a railway arch in Battersea, London. Founded in 2017 by Sergio and Lynsey Verrillo, it works with carefully selected English growers to produce distinctive small-batch wines, with cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at the heart of the project.

Winemaker Sergio Verrillo trained in Viticulture and Oenology at Plumpton College before working harvests in England, California, Burgundy, South Africa and New Zealand. At Blackbook, he combines traditional winemaking with a minimalist approach, using indigenous yeasts and low sulphur where possible to produce wines that express the character of the fruit rather than conforming to a single house style.
