Method Magic Nomad Wines, led by Pieter Kruger and Kosie van der Merwe, crafts their cool-climate Elgin ‘Frank’ Cabernet Franc with a laid-back, hands-off vibe. 40% whole bunch clusters were placed in an open fermenter and 60% was destemmed on top. Fermentation is allowed to happen spontaneously for 3 weeks, before the grapes are basket pressed and put into barrels for ageing. After 9 months the various barrels are blended together, before heading straight to bottle, unfiltered and with just a whisper of sulphur. So it keeps all its fresh, vibrant personality. Pieter and Kosie are all about letting the grape and Elgin's cool climate steal the spotlight.
