A stunning take on the newer 2015 vintage, full of surprising richness. Ripe apricots, papaya and even honey on the palate, balanced by minerality from the chalky soil. Delightful on its own, but can easily stand up to some flavourful food. Elegance bottled, as winemaker Marie-Noëlle says.

Method Magic Now in its fourth generation, Champagne Henriet-Bazin champions the terroir of their vineyards in Villers-Marmery area in the Montagne de Reims. Working towards organic practices, the house is currently certified HVE (a French qualification standing for 'High Environmental Value'). Current owner Marie-Noëlle has prioritised the health of the soil, and as a result the roots of her vines have reached deeper, finding more nutrients and minerals which translate to the depth and texture of her wines. The Marie-Amélie is made entirely from Premier Cru vineyards and is 100% Chardonnay (i.e. 'Blanc de Blancs') - an unusual find, given the area typically grows Pinot Noir. The result has all that richness, however - impressive given no sugar was added in the final dosage.
