Method Magic Viano Vineyards is a true old-school California original. It’s tucked into Martinez in Contra Costa County and they’ve been farming the same land since the late 1800s. With vineyard roots going back to 1888 and the Viano family calling it home since 1920 after emigrating from Piedmont, Italy, this is one of the last survivors of the once-famous Vine Hill wine district. The estate is all about heritage; dry-farmed, head-trained vines, cooling bay breezes from the Carquinez Strait, and hands-on, no-nonsense winemaking that lets the place speak for itself. Today, brothers John and David Viano carry the torch, crafting character-driven wines that blend California grit with Italian soul, while fiercely protecting a rare piece of Bay Area wine history from disappearing under concrete.
