Tapatio Reposado

Made in the ‘Jalisco highlands’, it is more complex and delicate than other reposados. The aging in wood removes the edges from the tequila but doesn’t impart that much of a woody character to it. There is a slight aroma of pepper along with roasted agave and apple and a hint of oak and smoke. The palate is lead by Tapatio’s characteristic pepper note. There are also some fruit and creamy characteristics accompanied by other spices.

Method Magic Founded in 1937, Tapatio can be found in the blue agave growing mountainous region of Jalisco in Mexico. Distillation happens in a 2,500L Alambic (aka Charentais) pot still. These stills, or more accurately works of art, are hand made to the distillery’s specifications. Pot stills involve batch distillation, a process which is slower and more labour intensive, but they are used to create a more artisan and flavoursome product, the sort of product we all love. Tapatio is double distilled. It is aged for 8 months in ex-Bourbon barrels, two months more than the minimum age requirement for a reposado tequila. 🍋🟩
