Method Magic Founded in 1987 in Villabuena de Álava, Bodegas Izadi was the vision of restaurateur Gonzalo Antón, later propelled onto the global stage by his son Lalo Antón. Set in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, the winery works with prized old vines, many around 45 years of age, across the villages of Villabuena, Samaniego and Ábalos, focusing on low yields and precision viticulture to capture pure terroir expression. The striking, hillside winery is engineered with a 50-metre natural drop, allowing gravity to move the wine gently through each stage, preserving freshness and finesse. For Rioja Blanco Selección, hand-harvested indigenous varieties are carefully pressed, with most of the juice fermented in stainless steel to lock in vibrant aromatics, while selected parcels, primarily Viura and Malvasía, are fermented and lightly aged in new French oak, adding subtle texture and complexity before the final blend is crafted and bottled.
