Method Magic António Madeira is one of the leading forces in the revival of Portugal’s Dão, returning to his family’s roots to rescue old, high-altitude vineyards in the Serra da Estrela foothills. Working with organically and biodynamically farmed parcels at around 500m above sea level, he draws from granite soils and remarkable vines aged 30–90 years to craft whites of purity and tension. In the cellar, the approach is precise yet hands-off: grapes are destemmed and gently crushed, given a short four-hour maceration, then settled in stainless steel before being racked to a mix of steel tanks and barrels. The wine rests on its lees for 10–14 months, building texture and quiet complexity before final blending and bottling. The result is a granite-charged, mineral-etched white that feels both wild and refined. Old-vine depth meeting cool mountain freshness in every sip.
